Welcome to the L.A. County Language Diversity Map!

This map shows (1) the percentage of limited English speakers by language spoken at home in census tracts, and (2) the number of surveyed Indigenous language speakers by ZIP code.

Data Sources:

1. US Census American Community Survey (ACS) 5-year estimates, 2019-2023 (Table C16001 and Custom Tabulation ST542)
2. USC Equity Research Institute analysis of outreach data collected by Comunidades Indígenas en Liderazgo (CIELO), 2021-2023

* The custom tabulation from US Census includes languages not available in standard ACS datasets, including: Armenian, Hmong, Japanese, Khmer, Persian, and Thai. All other non-Indigenous languages are from the standard ACS table C16001.
